Cake Off Recipes

After learning our lesson the first year of the Cake Off, we have provided a concise and fairly easy to make list of recipes to enjoy the moist, succulent samples from the Cake Off at home with friends & family.

Pumpkin Spice Carrot Cake

Using the available Betty Crocker Carrot Cake mix, substitute the necessary 1 1/3 cup of water with the Valenzano Pumpkin Spice wine (or Jersey Devil Mead if unavailable). Mix thoroughly with the necessary oil & egg measurements. Add 1 tbsp of Half & Half or Whole Milk to mixture. Grease pan thoroughly before adding mixture. Cook for 20-25 mins, checking at least twice for consistency. Apply a liberal amount of Maple Buttercream icing after allowing to cool for 20 minutes.

 

Bramble On Red Velvet Cake

Using the available Betty Crocker Red Velvet Cake mix, substitute the necessary 1 1/3 cup of water with the Valenzano Bramble On Raspberry wine. Mix thoroughly with the necessary oil & egg measurements. Add 1 tbsp of Half & Half or Whole Milk to mixture. Grease pan thoroughly before adding mixture. Cook for 20-25 mins, checking at least twice for consistency. Apply a liberal amount of Cream Cheese icing after allowing to cool for 20 minutes.

 

Peach Pinot Grigio Lemon Cake

Using the available Betty Crocker Lemon Cake mix, substitute the necessary 1 1/3 cup of water with the Valenzano Peach Pinot Grigio wine. Mix thoroughly with the necessary oil & egg measurements. Add 1 tbsp of Half & Half or Whole Milk to mixture. Grease pan thoroughly before adding mixture. Cook for 20-25 mins, checking at least twice for consistency. Apply a liberal amount of Cream Cheese icing after allowing to cool for 20 minutes.

 

Plums Up Strawberry Sponge

Using the available Betty Crocker Strawberry Cake mix, substitute the necessary 1 1/3 cup of water with the Valenzano Plums Up wine. Mix thoroughly with the necessary oil & egg measurements. Add 1 tbsp of Half & Half or Whole Milk to mixture. Grease pan thoroughly before adding mixture. Cook for 20-25 mins, checking at least twice for consistency. Apply a liberal amount of Cream Cheese or Vanilla icing after allowing to cool for 20 minutes.

 

Jersey Devil’s Food Cake

Using the available Betty Crocker Devil’s Food Cake mix, substitute the necessary 1 1/3 cup of water with the Valenzano Jersey Devil Forte wine. Mix thoroughly with the necessary oil & egg measurements. Add 1 tbsp of Half & Half or Whole Milk to mixture. Grease pan thoroughly before adding mixture. Cook for 20-25 mins, checking at least twice for consistency. Apply a liberal amount of Dark Chocolate or Fudge icing after allowing to cool for 20 minutes (we whisked in almost ¼ cup of additional Port to the icing before liberally washing it over the cake).

 

German Chocolate Chambourcin Cake

Using the available Betty Crocker German Chocolate Cake mix, substitute the necessary 1 1/3 cup of water with the Valenzano Chambourcin wine. Mix thoroughly with the necessary oil & egg measurements. Add 1 tbsp of Half & Half or Whole Milk to mixture. Grease pan thoroughly before adding mixture. Cook for 20-25 mins, checking at least twice for consistency. Apply a liberal amount of Salted Caramel icing after allowing to cool for 20 minutes.
